Lo stile (chi ha detto Playback desicanto rivolgendosi al video? ) è quello inconfondibile dei primi anni '80, influenza Kraftwerkiana e Drum Machine come se piovesse... un motivo valido per amarlo

Bellissimo singolo tratto dall'ultimo Album del progetto britannico LCD Soundsystem, Sound of Silver.

La canzone non è altro che una parte del brano 45:33, di ben 45 minuti di durata, commissionato dalla Nike per un interessante progetto di musica per il movimento, riadattato con una parte vocale, a mio parere perfettamente efficace per il tipo di musica, a primo ascolto, difficile da classificare (ElectroXiloMusic? ).

Peccato che l'intero album, dall'idea veloce che mi son fatto, non è all'altezza di "Someone Great", molto sottotono e poco incisivo, solo... la Cover è degna qualitativamente, è geniale l'utilizzo dell'Avant Garde Alternate (Ne approfitto per chiedere a tutti, nel caso qualcuno se la ritrovasse nel proprio PC, di informarmi in tutti i modi possibili )

Un ultimo appunto, il primo video è amatoriale, ma il brano è identico a quello dell'Album, mentre il secondo è il video ufficiale, ma con la canzone riadattata velocizzandola. Preferisco di gran lunga la prima versione, che non perde quel suo battito lento dei Synth, che mi fa impazzire

Rage In Eden, ultimo album prodotto da Conny Plank, può vantare un solo hit, l'inno dai risvolti orwelliani di "The Voice", ma conferma gli Ultravox all'avanguardia del movimento elettro-rock dell'epoca [...]
La critica del tempo è troppo impegnata a osannare Springsteen, Prince e compagnia, per accorgersi che gli Ultravox non sono solo l'ennesimo gruppo di synth-pop (come vengono superficialmente considerati), ma una band d'avanguardia, che maschera dietro qualche hit più commerciale ambiziosi intenti sperimentali. La scelta della Cover è dettata soltanto dalla gusto personale basato soltanto sull'estetica, quella postata infatti è la copertina usata nella re-edizione di Rage in Eden del '97, e non la l'originale a cura della Peter Saville Associates.

Alcune considerazioni, obbligatorie, prima dell'analisi prettamente musicale...

...Sophie è una gran figa, anzi: definirla figa sarebbe una bestemmia, perché la sua bellezza non è calcolabile con i soliti canoni comuni, Lei sta un gradino sopra, dove solo pochissime donne possono arrivare... l'eleganza, il corpo, gli sguardi, la voce; la natura gli ha dato tutto quello che si potesse avere, e dobbiamo essere onorati che ci venga data la possibilità di osservarla.

Tralasciando i dovuti onori, la ragazza, come ho già detto, non è solo immagine, ma anche voce, bellissima, calda, che si addice perfettamente alla freddezza dei Synth e al ritmo continuo della batteria, è da considerarsi la degna erede di Debbie Harry dei Blondie
